Why Etna wine tastes like nowhere else

Volcanic soil and high-altitude vines give Mount Etna wine its distinct minerality. How 'mina's sommelier Giro chooses Sicilian wines by the glass.

On the slopes of Mount Etna, vines grow in black volcanic soil at altitudes most grapes never see. The result is a wine with tension and minerality you can taste from the first sip.

Giro walks these vineyards himself. “You can't fake this place,” he says. The reds are bright and savory; the whites carry salt and citrus that pair beautifully with our seafood.

A good bottle is how the conversation starts.

Next time you're in, ask for the Etna flight. We'll walk you through the mountain, one glass at a time. It's not a theme — it's where we're from.
